ENGEL Austria GmbH, one of the world's leading manufacturers of plastics machinery, recently expanded its headquarters in Schwertberg, Upper Austria, by more than 10,000 m² of floor space. The extension planned by Riepl Riepl Architects was completed in spring and offers the employees a future-oriented working environment with modern offices. This includes consistently well thought-out equipping of the building. Decentralised electrical distribution with EVOline from Schulte Elektrotechnik ensures economical and long-term flexible electrification.

In contrast to conventional electrical installations, which supply each connection individually from a central control room, compact ribbon cables were laid in Schwertberg for a 400 V network application in the raised floor. Each work unit is equipped with an EVOline Consolidation Point. This can be connected at any point via a tap to the trunk circuit in the raised floor and takes over the local supply of the desk sockets with 230 V as well as the FI/LS fuse.

This not only saves time and cable meters during installation, but also offers a high degree of flexibility. With decentralised electrical distribution, the investment costs for electrical installation can be reduced by up to 40%. The flat ribbon cables can be laid in the raised floor in a short time with just a few simple steps, and remain accessible at all times thanks to the movable floor plates. If the use changes, the modular system can be easily adapted without structural alterations. The consolidation points can be repositioned at any time and connections can be added or removed. The consistent use of the WAGO Winsta connector system and the local protection additionally simplify this.

Low fire load and stable operation

Fewer cables also mean less fire load. With conventional electrical installations, more than a third of the permitted value is already reached through the power cabling. Together with the building fabric and other installations, hardly any reserves or additional fire protection measures, which cause further costs, are required. Compared to conventional electrical installations, Schulte Elektrotechnik's decentralised electrical distribution system can reduce the fire load by up to 80%.

The local safeguarding of the decentralised system contributes in particular to stable and safe operation. In the event of an overload or a fault current, the supply does not fail on the entire floor, but only at the location of the cause. If required, several circuits can be easily set up and separately protected, for example for lighting, EDP and emergency lighting.

EVOline also ensures flexible and clear cabling at the workplace: The bottom outlet and the EVOline WireLane cable chain guide all cables bundled and barely visible to their destination. Excess cable lengths disappear elegantly in the raised floor. EVOline also offers a wide range of configurable power and data desk and table mounting solutions. These bring the desired connections to exactly where they are needed.
